Today celebrates the 10 year anniversary of my dad, hit songwriter Kim Williams crossing over the rainbow bridge.
Even though he died and left this Earth on February 11, 2016, he is still with us in our hearts, leaving his musical legacy behind for us to enjoy for always.
I thought today was a good opportunity to list off a few of the accomplishments Dad has achieved since he passed away:
1) He was honored by the State of Tennessee with a formal proclamation signed by State Legislators and a monument was placed in his honor atop his beloved Clinch Mountain.
2) He was inducted in the East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame
3) TN Music Pathways honored him by placing a marker in Crockett Park
4) "Three Drinks Behind" was recorded and released by King George Strait on his Cowboys and Dreamers album
5) Garth Brooks continues the Williams / Brooks songwriting legacy by recording and releasing: "Baby, Let's Lay Down and Dance," including favorites such as "Ain't Goin' Down Til' The Sun Comes Up" and "Papa Loved Mama," and talking about the genius that is Kim Williams in every one of his Anthology books.
Celebrate Dad today by listening to this hand curated list of some of our favorite Kim Williams songs on Amazon Music.
Here's a picture of the prayer written for his Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Friends and Family Memorial. It hangs on my office bulletin board as a daily reminder - Gone, but Not Forgotten.
